SUN IS UP….COFFEE’S HOT








Sun is up and the coffee%26#039;s hot,


A roll and some fruit just hits the spot


I read the paper and check the mail


Then I’m off to the shower before I set sail


into a brand new day on life%26#039;s big sea;


I whisper, %26quot;Oh, Lord take care of me%26quot;.





Not much time in my long busy days


sometimes it’s all a complete haze of


decisions and deadlines so confusing and


it%26#039;s hard to find a thing uplifting or amusing


out here in this world where reality screams


drowning out my optimism, my hope, my dreams.





I drag myself home at the end of the day,


and breathe a sigh of relief that I’m back


to my castle, my home, my retreat


as I kick off my shoes and put up my feet, and


wonder where another day went in overwhelming work


and listen to the news of yet one more jerk


who’s version of living is to create more misery and pain


in a world where souls are drowning in it already.





Where is the joy I once knew, the pleasure, the laughter


and will this get any better in the life hereafter?


Will this all wash away like a fresh morning shower


cleansing old wounds and restoring my power


and the child’s ability to re-create and never know


or will I take it with me, dragging it as I go


and living it again in yet another life where ………………..

I love how the tension builds up just the way stress works on the human body- and how you end with that little ritualistic sunshiney caffeine stanza. We all have ways to soothe ourselves, don%26#039;t we?
